Spring Festival is Coming

Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday for every Chinese people. Chinese New Year’s Day always falls on January 1 and marks the start of a new year according to the lunar calendar.

People usually begin to do Spring Festival shopping one month before the New Year’s Day coming. Everyone is immersed in a festival atmosphere and reaches the peak on lunar New Year’s eve. Every family gathers together to have a family reunion dinner to watch CCTV New Year’s Gala and celebrate this important festival. People make dumplings with coin, rice cake, red dates, candies and many other ingredients which means happiness, health and wealth inside to wish a better year next year. Children and youngsters will get red envelops with gift money from the elder.

Though the 15-day period, which starts with the first day of the lunar new year and ends on the 15th day (known as Lantern Festival), is relatively long, it is the busiest time of the year for Chinese people. Many people travel back home and meet friends over dinner and drinks.

During this period, many companies will have a 7-day holiday based on the national regulation, and others especially like some factories may extend the holiday to the Lantern Festival. This time, we Taijin Food will have a vacation from Jan. 27th to Feb. 2nd.
